Zetrix AI Berhad and Shenzhen Data Exchange have agreed to jointly establish a secure platform for cross-border data trading between ASEAN countries and China, announced in a press release. The initiative aims to enable regulated data flows and unlock the economic value of data assets across the two regions.

Under a signed Memorandum of Understanding, the partners plan to build a standardized platform for data circulation in ASEAN, including rules for trading, quality control, and security assurance. They will also explore the feasibility and regulatory requirements for operating a regional data exchange.

The collaboration will promote two-way circulation of data products between China and Southeast Asia, covering sectors such as trade, finance, government services, manufacturing, and agriculture. It includes establishing compliance standards for data property rights, transaction settlement, and cross-border flows.

Both organizations will also work on developing a broader data ecosystem by sharing resources and hosting cooperation events. They plan to conduct research on cross-border data governance and create commercial models compatible with regulations in both China and ASEAN.
