The company announced the opening of a new engineering hub in the region, with job postings for roles in image and video generation, as well as GPU kernel teams. Salaries for these positions range from $180,000 to $440,000 annually.
The Seattle office is part of xAI's broader expansion strategy, which includes locations in San Francisco, Austin, London, Dublin, New York, and Memphis. This move places xAI in close proximity to major tech players like Microsoft, which is both a partner and a competitor in the AI space.
Elon Musk launched xAI in 2023 with the goal of understanding the true nature of the universe. The company is known for its Grok chatbot, which utilizes real-time data from X, formerly known as Twitter. The specific details regarding the size and location of the new Seattle office have not been disclosed yet.
