X Square Robot announced in a press release TwinDEX, a matched wearable data collection device and robotic end effector for dexterous manipulation. Both devices use three fingers and nine degrees of freedom, with seven active and two passive degrees of freedom.

The system includes synchronized sensing, a data processing pipeline, and a policy training workflow. It is designed to collect manipulation demonstrations without occupying a robot, while keeping the collection device close to the deployment hand in kinematics, fingertip geometry, visual appearance, and timing.

TwinDEX was evaluated on tasks including twisting caps, sweeping with a broom and dustpan, opening a book, releasing toolbox latches, and operating a syringe. In a collection evaluation, TwinDEX delivered up to 5.3 times the effective throughput of teleoperation using a robot.

The system was also tested in a standardized chemistry experiment completed autonomously in one continuous run. Across 24 subactions, the robot opened and stabilized containers, handled a scooper, used a rubber bulb pipette, transferred liquids and solids, guided a pour, switched tools, and coordinated both hands. The chemistry run used a few hundred episodes collected without a robot and no training data collected on the robot.
