WhatsApp Help Pages Exposed Instructions for Meta Support Chatbot

Around 80 WhatsApp help and FAQ pages exposed hidden instructions for a support chatbot, privacy company Redact found, according to Wired. Meta Platforms, Inc. said a bug caused the text to appear and removed it after Wired contacted the company.

The pages contained about 100 blocks of hidden text intended to guide a Meta language model. Some instructions told the chatbot not to provide legal advice, interpret privacy regulations, discuss WhatsApp's liability, or direct users to regulators and data protection authorities.

Other instructions covered responses to users who are deaf or hard of hearing and told the chatbot not to mention unreleased community features. Meta said the instructions were for its WhatsApp support chatbot and were intended to keep responses accurate and relevant.
