Wallarm Reports Surge in API Threats Amid Rise of Agentic AI

Wallarm has released its Q1 2025 API Threat Report, revealing a significant rise in API-related security issues, particularly within Agentic AI systems. The report, announced in a press release, indicates that 65% of security issues in Agentic AI code repositories are API-related.

The report highlights that API threats have increased across various industries, including healthcare and AI. It emphasizes the inseparability of agent and API security, noting that APIs are not just part of the attack surface but are the attack surface. The analysis of 2,869 security issues in Agentic AI projects found that a majority were API-related, with over 700 issues still unaddressed.

Wallarm's findings also point out that 25% of reported security issues remain unresolved, some for over 1,200 days, underscoring a critical gap between vulnerability discovery and remediation. The report stresses the need for organizations to update API threat models and security workflows to protect against these evolving threats.
