Vuzix Ships Causeway Waveguide Samples for AI Data Centers
Vuzix Corporation has begun shipping its first Causeway waveguide bridge samples to select prospective customers and ecosystem partners, the company announced in a press release. It is also making an optical interconnect evaluation kit available for AI data center applications, including CPO architectures.
The Causeway samples are the core optical element in the kit. The broader kit pairs Vuzix planar waveguide optical architecture with microLED emitter and photodetector test structures for optical path characterization, insertion loss measurement, coupling and alignment studies, crosstalk evaluation, and packaging work.
In its current demonstration setup, the architecture is designed to support evaluation of up to 19,200 parallel optical channels over an optical path length of about 30 mm. Vuzix said the same design and replication platform can be applied to other emitter types, and it is developing waveguide samples for VCSEL sources.
