UAE to Introduce AI Curriculum for Students Starting at Age Four
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set to introduce artificial intelligence (AI) as a mandatory subject in government schools, starting from the next academic year. This initiative, announced by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, aims to equip students from kindergarten to grade 12 with a deep understanding of AI technologies. The curriculum will cover foundational concepts, data and algorithms, software use, ethical awareness, and real-world applications.
The curriculum is designed to be age-appropriate, with younger students engaging in interactive activities to explore AI through play, while older students will delve into more complex topics such as designing AI systems and understanding algorithmic bias. The Ministry of Education will provide comprehensive guides and adaptable lesson plans to support teachers in delivering these new courses.
This move is part of the UAE's broader strategy to prepare future generations for a rapidly evolving digital world, ensuring they possess the skills necessary to thrive in an AI-driven society.
