TNO has launched TNO Ventures to accelerate the commercialization of technology through spin-offs and strategic investments in startups, announced in a press release. This initiative aims to bring technology from the lab to the market more rapidly, enhancing the competitiveness of the Netherlands.

TNO Ventures will support startups by providing access to TNO's technologies, expertise, and facilities, such as labs and cleanrooms. The organization will also engage in tech participations, where startups can pay in shares, reducing their cash-out requirements. TNO Ventures is currently involved in 12 Dutch early-stage investment funds, including DeepTechXL and Innovation Industries.

The initiative also focuses on creating spin-off companies, with over 40 already established, including Nearfield Instruments and LeydenJar. TNO is actively seeking experienced entrepreneurs to join the founding teams of future spin-offs. The goal is to increase the growth rate of Dutch startups, which currently lag behind their European and American counterparts.
