Thomson Reuters Launches Agentic AI Platform for Professionals
Thomson Reuters has launched its agentic AI platform, beginning with CoCounsel for tax, audit, and accounting professionals, announced in a press release. This new AI system is designed to operate within existing professional workflows, planning, reasoning, and executing complex tasks with human oversight.
The CoCounsel platform automates tasks such as client file review and compliance checks, integrating resources like Checkpoint and IRS code into a unified workspace. This marks a significant shift from traditional AI assistants, as the agentic AI can understand broader objectives and determine necessary steps to achieve them.
Thomson Reuters plans to expand these capabilities to legal, risk, and compliance domains later this year, integrating agentic workflows into platforms like Westlaw and Practical Law. These systems are designed for high-stakes environments, ensuring accuracy and trust through human-in-the-loop oversight and transparent reasoning.
