Sunthetics Joins $19.5M NSF Autonomous Lab Initiative
Sunthetics has been selected as a co principal investigator on a $19.5 million U.S. National Science Foundation initiative to build AI powered autonomous laboratories, announced in a press release. The company is a portfolio company of L'ATTITUDE Ventures and is based in San Marcos, Texas.
The project is part of NSF's Programmable Cloud Laboratories Test Bed initiative, which will provide funding over four years for a national network focused on automated science and engineering. Sunthetics is one of 20 teams in the broader NSF PCL initiative, which has a total of $400 million in funding.
Scripps Research is leading the project with UCLA and Sunthetics. The team plans to build an open AI guided platform for high throughput chemical reaction discovery, combining robotics, automation, AI models trained on chemical reactivity, open data formats, and standards aligned with FAIR principles.
Sunthetics develops machine learning software for chemical and pharmaceutical research. Its platform uses small datasets, including as few as five data points, to guide experiments and identify possible product pathways.
