Summer Robotics Raises Series A Led by Applied Ventures

Summer Robotics has completed the first closing of its Series A funding round led by Applied Ventures, LLC, with participation from Solasta Ventures, Naver, and others. The company also appointed Rick Van Valkenburg as Chief Commercial Officer to drive commercial growth.

Summer Robotics has completed the first closing of its Series A financing round, announced in a press release. The round was led by Applied Ventures, LLC, the venture capital arm of Applied Materials, with participation from Solasta Ventures, Naver, and other investors.

The funding will accelerate development of Summer Robotics' Kortx machine vision platform, which enables robots to function in dynamic and unstructured environments across varying lighting conditions. The technology is being applied in manufacturing, logistics, and humanoid robotics.

The company also appointed Rick Van Valkenburg as Chief Commercial Officer. Van Valkenburg brings nearly three decades of experience in automation and machine vision, including leadership roles at Perceptron Inc. His appointment is intended to support the company's commercial expansion.

Summer Robotics, founded in 2020 and headquartered in Campbell, California, has launched pilot programs with automotive manufacturers and plans to expand into additional industries seeking advanced automation solutions.
