Rocket One Signs VCU Agreement for SKYMRAM Memory Research
Rocket One Inc. signed a sponsored research agreement with Virginia Commonwealth University to study SKYMRAM magnetic memory, the company announced in a press release. The one year program will begin November 1, 2026.
The research will cover nanoscale device fabrication, magnetic material optimization, and device testing. A central objective is to demonstrate switching of SKYMRAM's soft magnetic layer and refine structures that can host skyrmions about 100 nanometers in size.
VCU will lead the project, while Northwestern University will support thin film growth and material characterization through a subaward. The agreement gives Rocket One an option to negotiate licenses for intellectual property created by the project.
The work is an early feasibility study and does not represent a completed AI processor or validated system performance. Potential uses in AI infrastructure, space, and defense would require further testing, including radiation tolerance testing for space applications.
