Red Bull Basement Hosts 2026 Global Startup Finals in San Francisco
Red Bull Basement will conclude its 2026 World Final tomorrow in San Francisco, featuring 40 national winning teams presenting startup ideas developed into working MVP demos using AI tools and vibe coding, according to a press release.
The global innovation incubator is designed for first-time founders who can apply with one idea and no prototype or company registration. The 2026 edition drew more than 100,000 applicants worldwide and marks the first time the event is hosted in the United States.
The program consists of four stages: application, national finals, development phase, and world final. During the development phase held from May 18 to 30, teams used vibe coding, a method of building software with natural-language prompts to AI, to create functional MVPs.
Finalist projects include Germany's Please Touch This Art, which uses AI-powered 3D printing to make museum art accessible for the visually impaired; Belgium's SIGNIVO, an AI glove translating sign language into speech; Japan's LU-MOS, a common-standard lunar rover platform; and Canada's TruthShield AI, an agentic AI face detection shield.
The global winner will receive $100,000 in equity-free funding from Red Bull, $25,000 in Microsoft Azure credits, and mentorship from Red Bull Ventures.
