Raytron Thermal Cameras Integrated into KargoBot Autonomous Trucks

October 30, 2025
KargoBot has partnered with Raytron to equip its autonomous trucks with infrared thermal cameras, improving all-weather perception and safety during operations.

KargoBot has partnered with Raytron Technology Co., Ltd. to integrate Raytron’s automotive infrared thermal cameras into its driverless trucks, announced in a press release. The cameras serve as a core sensing module, enhancing perception in low-visibility and challenging weather conditions for autonomous logistics operations.

The thermal imaging system detects heat signatures rather than visible light, allowing KargoBot’s vehicles to identify obstacles, pedestrians, and animals even in darkness, fog, or dusty environments. This complements other sensors like LiDAR and radar, which can struggle in such conditions.

In April 2025, a 98-kilometer pilot convoy of Level 4 autonomous trucks equipped with Raytron’s system successfully traveled from Ordos to Baotou in China. The test demonstrated reliable performance in mining zones, low-light grasslands, and during rapid light transitions at tunnel entrances.

Raytron specializes in infrared imaging technologies across short-, mid-, and long-wave spectrums and supplies thermal imaging solutions for industries including automotive, rescue, and industrial inspection. Through this collaboration, KargoBot aims to strengthen the safety and reliability of its autonomous trucking fleet.
