Q.ANT Expands to U.S. with Austin Headquarters and New CTO

April 28, 2026
Q.ANT has opened its U.S. headquarters in Austin, Texas, and named semiconductor veteran Bruno Spruth as Chief Technology Officer to lead its North American operations and drive photonic computing development.

Q.ANT has opened its United States headquarters in Austin, Texas, and appointed Bruno Spruth as Chief Technology Officer, announced in a press release. Spruth previously served as Vice President of Power Processor Development at IBM, where he led the POWER processor architecture. He will oversee Q.ANT’s technological strategy and product development across North America.

The Austin site will focus on expanding Q.ANT’s photonic computing platform, which performs calculations using light instead of electricity. The company’s Native Processing Units are designed to integrate into existing data centers through PCIe interfaces and function as co-processors alongside CPUs and GPUs. Q.ANT states that its processors can achieve up to 30 times greater energy efficiency and 50 times the performance of traditional systems used for artificial intelligence and high performance computing.

Founded in Stuttgart in 2018, Q.ANT operates a pilot production line for thin film lithium niobate photonic chips through its partner IMS Chips. The company deployed its first commercial photonic processor in a production environment at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre in Germany in 2025. The new U.S. headquarters places Q.ANT in proximity to semiconductor research and infrastructure, with plans to expand its American team to 20 employees within six months.
