ProRata has closed a $40 million Series B financing round led by Touring Capital and launched Gist Answers, an AI-as-a-service solution for publishers.

ProRata has closed a $40 million Series B financing round led by Touring Capital, announced in a press release. This funding will accelerate the rollout of Gist Answers, a new AI-as-a-service solution designed to empower publishers by embedding custom AI search, summarization, and recommendation functionalities directly into their digital platforms.

Gist Answers aims to enhance the control publishers have over AI search experiences, fostering richer interactions and longer engagement times. The service has already partnered with over 100 publications for early access, allowing them to license their content to ProRata for use on third-party platforms. This initiative is part of ProRata's strategy to create a sustainable AI economy that fairly compensates content creators.

The new service works alongside Gist Ads, an advertising platform that places native ads next to AI-generated responses, creating a premium ad format that aligns with user intent. This approach is expected to drive better performance for marketers and unlock additional revenue streams for publishers.
