Prime Video Adds Prime 360 AI Replays to NBA Broadcasts

Prime Video is adding Prime 360, an AI powered virtual camera and replay system, to select NBA broadcasts during its second season of coverage.

Amazon Prime Video is adding Prime 360, an AI powered virtual camera and replay system, to select NBA broadcasts, according to Sports Video Group. The system uses an array of high resolution cameras around the court to capture synchronized footage from multiple angles.

Prime 360 sends the footage to the AWS cloud, where proprietary AI models reconstruct a three dimensional scene using AWS Trainium chips. Production teams can create replay angles unavailable through conventional broadcast cameras and move a virtual camera through a play.

Prime Video will use the system during games and for analysis in pregame, halftime and postgame programming. Its second NBA season includes more than 100 regular season and postseason games, streamed in native 1080p HDR with 5.1 surround sound.
