PowerX Unveils Energy Blade Battery System for AI Data Centers

May 15, 2026
PowerX has introduced the PowerX Energy Blade, a rack-mounted battery energy storage system designed for AI data centers. The system supports 800V DC power and can replace traditional backup batteries while enabling grid flexibility services.

PowerX announced in a press release the PowerX Energy Blade, a rack-mounted battery energy storage system built for data centers. The product is under development and scheduled for market release in 2027, with the company now seeking partners for implementation.

The Energy Blade uses lithium-ion cells optimized for rapid charge and discharge, allowing bidirectional response to power grid fluctuations within milliseconds. It supports the 800-volt direct current supply required by modern AI GPUs and can replace conventional battery backup units.

The system enables data centers to act as flexible grid resources by adjusting power flow and server utilization dynamically through PowerX’s Compute Modulation technology. This allows participation in frequency control and demand response markets without affecting core operations.

PowerX stated that the Energy Blade complements its previously announced modular data center concept, Mega Power DC, expanding its portfolio of battery-based solutions for building-integrated data centers.
