Phare Bio Joins Google.org Accelerator for AI-Driven Antibiotic Discovery
Phare Bio has been selected to participate in the Google.org Accelerator, a program aimed at advancing generative AI applications. Announced in a press release, Phare Bio will receive a share of $30 million in funding and six months of pro bono technical expertise to enhance its AI-powered, open-access drug discovery platform.
The platform, developed in collaboration with the Collins Lab at MIT, uses generative AI to design new classes of antibiotics. It integrates machine learning models with biological screening to identify and optimize drug candidates efficiently. This initiative addresses the growing issue of antibiotic resistance, which poses a significant global health threat.
Dr. Akhila Kosaraju, CEO and President of Phare Bio, emphasized the importance of this support in making their tools accessible to researchers worldwide, thereby accelerating antibiotic discoveries. The platform aims to develop 15 preclinical antibiotics by 2030, setting a new standard for biotech innovation.
Karla Palmer from Google.org highlighted Phare Bio's potential to revolutionize antibiotic discovery and foster global collaboration against urgent health challenges.
