Paul Christiano Named 2026 Hinton Lectures Lecturer

Paul Christiano will deliver the 2026 Hinton Lectures in Toronto from November 9 to 11. The three night series will also be broadcast online.

The AI Safety Foundation named Paul Christiano the 2026 lecturer for The Hinton Lectures, the organization said in a press release. The three night series will run from November 9 to 11 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto and will also be broadcast online.

Christiano was an early researcher at OpenAI, where he developed reinforcement learning from human feedback. He is the founder and executive director of the Alignment Research Center, a nonprofit that studies how machine learning systems make decisions.

Christiano also serves as a senior technical adviser at the Center for AI Standards and Innovation within the US National Institute of Standards and Technology. The lectures will be moderated by writer and podcaster Sinead Bovell, and tickets are available to the public.
