Pair Team's AI Model Enhances Medicaid Care
Pair Team has announced the publication of its first peer-reviewed study in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, highlighting the effectiveness of its AI-enabled, community-integrated model for Medicaid beneficiaries. The study, announced in a press release, demonstrates increased outpatient engagement, reduced emergency and hospital utilization, and improved health outcomes.
The study evaluated outcomes for 568 adults enrolled in California's ECM program with Pair Team between July 2022 and August 2023. Participants, who faced challenges such as homelessness and chronic diseases, showed significant improvements in healthcare engagement and outcomes. Key findings include a 52% reduction in emergency department visits and a 26% decrease in hospitalizations.
Pair Team's model combines medical, behavioral, and social care, utilizing AI technology to coordinate care across various services. This approach has led to increased patient engagement, with patients averaging 3.3 contacts per month with care teams. The model also improved access to care, with HbA1c testing rates more than doubling and outpatient visits increasing by 21%.
The success of Pair Team's model underscores the potential for AI-enabled, community-integrated care to improve outcomes for Medicaid beneficiaries nationwide.
