OpenAI Teases New Sora Features, Including Pet Cameos and Android Version

OpenAI is preparing a major update for its Sora app, adding new creative and social features. The company said users will soon be able to generate AI videos featuring their pets and other objects as "cameos," expanding the app’s existing ability to create digital versions of people for use in generated clips.

The update will also introduce basic video editing capabilities, starting with tools for stitching multiple clips together. Additional editing functions are expected to be added over time. To help users discover new content, the app’s interface will display trending cameos in real time.

Improvements to Sora’s social experience are also planned, including new ways to collaborate with friends and groups. The update may include dedicated channels for communities such as universities, companies, or sports clubs. OpenAI is also working to reduce moderation strictness and improve overall app performance.

An Android version of Sora is currently in development and expected to launch soon. The app, developed by OpenAI, has remained at the top of the App Store in the U.S. and Canada since its late September release.
