OpenAI Acquires Statsig, Appoints Vijaye Raji as CTO of Applications

OpenAI has announced the acquisition of product testing startup Statsig for $1.1 billion in an all-stock deal, according to a company blog post. This acquisition is part of OpenAI's strategy to enhance its Applications business, which is led by Fidji Simo, the former CEO of Instacart.
Vijaye Raji, the founder and CEO of Statsig, will join OpenAI as the CTO of Applications. In his new role, Raji will oversee product engineering for ChatGPT, Codex, and future applications. His appointment is expected to accelerate product development within OpenAI's Applications organization.
The acquisition will see all Statsig employees transition to OpenAI, although Statsig will continue to operate independently from its Seattle office. This move is pending regulatory approval, but once completed, it will integrate Statsig's experimentation platform into OpenAI's operations, enhancing the company's ability to innovate and iterate on its AI products.
