Neurava Wins $4 Million NIH Award to Develop SUDEP Risk Algorithm

Neurava has received a $4 million NIH Blueprint MedTech Optimizer award to develop a Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP) risk stratification and forecasting algorithm, announced in a press release.

The four-year award will fund the development, validation, and integration of a quantitative SUDEP risk assessment platform designed to support clinical trials. The effort aims to combine data from seizure activity, cardiac function, and respiratory function using Neurava’s wearable technology.

The NIH Blueprint MedTech program supports neurotechnology projects with clinical potential. Neurava’s algorithm will build on existing clinical and physiological SUDEP risk factors to create a unified framework for objective risk assessment. The project also includes plans for thorough validation to ensure clinical readiness and real-world applicability.
