Naitive Technologies' OsteoSight Gains FDA Clearance for AI Bone Health Assessment
Naitive Technologies has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its AI-enabled product, OsteoSight, announced in a press release. OsteoSight is designed to assess bone mineral density (BMD) opportunistically using standard X-rays, which are typically acquired for other clinical concerns such as arthritis or falls.
Osteoporosis, a condition marked by the progressive loss of BMD, affects millions of Americans, often going undiagnosed until fractures occur. OsteoSight aims to address this by enabling earlier diagnosis and intervention, thereby improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs. The technology integrates seamlessly into existing orthopedic workflows, analyzing routine X-rays of the hip or pelvis in patients aged 50 and older to identify those at risk for low BMD.
The FDA's clearance of OsteoSight marks a significant step forward in orthopedic care, allowing practices to proactively manage osteoporosis. With this clearance, Naitive Technologies plans to advance commercial partnerships to introduce OsteoSight into orthopedic practices across the United States, laying the groundwork for a comprehensive bone health platform.
