Monk Launches Cash Application 2.0 with AI Matching Engine

July 17, 2026
Monk has introduced Cash Application 2.0, an updated platform that automates 80% of payment matching using an AI engine with three matching tiers and expanded support for lockbox and check uploads.

Monk has introduced Cash Application 2.0, a rebuilt system that automates payment matching in accounts receivable, announced in a press release. The update targets the manual process of matching incoming payments to invoices, which remains a major bottleneck in finance operations.

The release uses a three-tier architecture combining deterministic matching, custom rule creation, and an AI background agent that improves from manual corrections. The first tier completes confident matches automatically. The second tier suggests user-specific rules based on customer patterns. The third tier uses an agent to process unmatched cases daily, learning from user actions over time. Monk reports that this system automates 80% of payment matches and continues to improve.

Cash Application 2.0 also adds support for lockbox files and check uploads. These features allow the platform to extract and enrich payment details that are often lost in bank feeds, improving the accuracy of transaction matching. The new functions are available now for all Monk customers.

Monk’s platform manages over $1.4 billion in receivables and handles collections, forecasting, and cash application. Customers using its automation tools report reduced days sales outstanding and increased time savings for finance teams.
