Molex's latest survey reveals the growing importance of AI and open standards in aerospace and defense engineering, with 86% of participants emphasizing AI-assisted design expertise.

Molex has released a new design engineering survey that underscores the pivotal role of AI, open standards, and evolving skills in driving innovation within the aerospace and defense sectors. Announced in a press release, the survey reveals that 86% of participants consider AI-assisted design expertise crucial for future success. The survey also highlights that nearly all engineers recognize benefits such as increased creativity, cost reduction, and improved testing scenarios.

The survey indicates a widespread optimism towards AI tools, with 79% of design engineers using AI tools not yet approved by their companies. However, concerns about AI grow with usage, as 43% of regular users report significant concerns. The use of approved AI tools is more prevalent in Europe, with Germany, France, and the UK leading the way.

Additionally, the survey shows a positive outlook on open standards, with 94% of participants valuing their implementation. While 39% of companies have fully implemented open standards, the majority are still in the early stages of adoption. The survey also identifies key pressures in the industry, such as increasing power requirements and security demands, which are shaping the future of design engineering.
