Meta's Muse Raises Trust Questions Around Financial Tasks

Meta's Muse AI agent faces questions about whether users will share sensitive financial and account data with it, according to a TechCrunch Equity podcast discussion. The consumer agent can search for unclaimed funds and could identify unused subscriptions or duplicate charges when connected to personal accounts.

TechCrunch transportation editor Sean O'Kane tested Muse and used it to find unclaimed money that he later requested. He described that task as useful but limited to a single occasion, and said he had not found another function that provided similar value.

O'Kane said Muse initially treated him as a new user rather than automatically importing context from Facebook, Instagram or Threads. The app later encouraged him to connect more services, which would give it additional personal information. He said Meta's advertising business made him less willing to provide financial, email and other sensitive account data.
