Long Island University has announced the establishment of the AI² Center, a university-wide initiative focused on artificial intelligence education, research, and workforce development according to a press release. The center will bring together academic programs, research projects, and industry partnerships across LIU's campuses.

The AI² Center will serve as a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration and experiential learning across more than 150 academic programs. LIU offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in artificial intelligence, as well as the nation's first Bachelor of Engineering in Digital Engineering. The university is also expanding its Artificial Intelligence Competency Distinction, a nine-credit credential available to students in all majors.

The initiative includes a strategic partnership with Dassault Systèmes, which will support the 3DEXPERIENCE Education Center of Excellence at LIU. The partnership will enable research and learning in areas such as precision medicine, healthcare innovation, digital engineering, and artificial intelligence applications.

LIU is investing in new facilities to support the program. At the Post Campus, construction has begun on a 40,000 square foot science and innovation building, while the Brooklyn Campus now features 20,000 square feet of 3D design, simulation, and fabrication laboratories. The AI² Center is led by Mohammed Cherkaoui, PhD, Senior Vice President for Research and Artificial Intelligence.
