London Tops BCG Intelligent Cities Index
Boston Consulting Group announced in a press release that London ranked first in its inaugural Intelligent Cities Index 2026. Dubai, New York City, Washington, DC, and Amsterdam completed the top five.
The report assessed 61 cities in 39 countries on how they use technology, including AI, to serve residents and businesses. It measured five domains: outcomes, strategy, adoption, ways of working, and enablers.
London led in resident outcomes, Madrid led in intelligent city strategy, Dubai led in adoption, New York City led in ways of working, and Amsterdam led in enablers. BCG said no city led across every domain.
The report also found that residents who use GenAI tools more often are more likely to view AI positively. Cities in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East showed strong GenAI usage and optimism, with younger urban populations reporting higher usage and satisfaction.
