Lexar Unveils AI Storage Core and New SSD Line at COMPUTEX 2026
Lexar announced in a press release that it presented the next stage of its AI Storage Core concept at COMPUTEX 2026 in Taipei. The company showcased new AI capable storage technologies designed for local AI workloads and edge computing systems. The AI Storage Core combines hardware and software through a Gen5 controller called SPU and an Intelligent Scheduling Engine to improve performance and reduce DRAM demand by about forty percent.
Lexar introduced several new storage products based on this platform, including the NM1090 PRO 8 TB PCIe Gen5 SSD, which reaches read speeds of 14,400 MB per second and write speeds of 13,400 MB per second. The company also presented the ARES RGB DDR5 memory with capacities up to 128 GB, designed for AI PCs and creative workflows requiring high bandwidth and multitasking support.
Together with ASUS, Lexar is expanding its ecosystem for AI PCs and gaming. On display were an AI optimized Gen4 SSD for the ASUS NUC 15 Pro Mini PC and the PLAY X PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe SSD, which is compatible with the ROG XBOX ALLY handheld gaming device. Lexar stated that the PLAY X is now available in Germany, France, and the United Kingdom. The company plans to continue developing its AI Storage Core ecosystem with additional technology and platform partners.
