Kontakt.io Expands Staff Safe to Outdoor Areas for Enhanced Hospital Safety
Kontakt.io has extended its Staff Safe workplace violence prevention solution to include outdoor areas, announced in a press release. This expansion allows hospitals to offer comprehensive staff protection beyond indoor facilities, covering parking lots, garages, drop-off zones, and walking paths using a single, integrated real-time location system (RTLS) platform.
The enhancement comes amid rising workplace violence in healthcare settings, with incidents reportedly increasing by 112 percent, costing hospitals billions annually. The expanded coverage includes a one-mile-radius outdoor safety net, providing seamless protection from indoor areas to the farthest parking stalls.
Kontakt.io's solution equips healthcare staff with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Smart Badges featuring panic buttons for instant duress alerts. The system includes LoRaWAN-based outdoor gateways, BLE-enabled badges, and indoor base stations, all managed through a cloud-native platform for analytics and reporting. The new Smart Badge 3 Mini offers improved usability with a smaller form factor and longer battery life.
This expansion aims to enhance staff safety across healthcare campuses, ensuring protection for nurses and other staff members both indoors and outdoors.
