KAI Tests AI Satellite Fault Diagnosis in Orbit

Korea Aerospace Industries tested an AI module that diagnoses simulated satellite faults and recommends responses while in orbit.

Korea Aerospace Industries completed an orbital test of an AI module that diagnoses satellite faults and recommends responses, according to DongA Science. The module is installed on BEE-1012, a cubesat operated by Spacerintech that entered orbit aboard South Korea's Nuri rocket on October 7.

During the test, a ground station sent simulated fault signals to the satellite. The module analyzed the cause and scope of the faults, generated a technical report with countermeasures, and returned the report to the ground station. KAI said the system was trained on tens of thousands of fault scenarios.

Yonsei University, defense AI company Funzin, and neural processing unit startup Mobilint also participated in the project. KAI plans to begin a main autonomous operation demonstration mission in December to test reliability and establish specifications for future satellite systems.

Tensordyne Napier: What If One Rack Could Do the Work of Nine?

Tensordyne

This Tensordyne whitepaper presents Napier, an inference-focused AI processor and rack-scale system based on the company’s TDN Math logarithmic number system. It examines infrastructure requirements for large mixture-of-experts and agentic models, compares major inference architecture approaches, and details the TDN AIP processor, TDN72 pod, TDN Link fabric, and Napier Ultra configuration. The paper reports simulation-based performance, cost, and accuracy-validation results, including Tensordyne’s projected comparison of one Napier rack with a nine-rack Nvidia Rubin plus Groq deployment; the chip is reported as taped out and in fabrication.
