ITRI Shows AI Network and Drone Systems at ICT TechDay

ITRI opened ICT TechDay 2026 on September 29 with more than 30 technologies focused on 6G, satellite communications, unmanned vehicles and AI applications, the institute said in a press release. Several systems have reached field validation or industrial deployment.

ITRI presented a 5G and 6G network management system that uses AI-RAN technology to allocate network resources. In field tests, the system reduced network recovery time by 97 percent and improved network performance by 50 percent. ITRI is developing base stations with Pegatron and G REIGNS, while Groundhog Technologies and Auray Technology are working on network management software.

The institute also showed an indoor drone inspection system that uses visual inertial odometry to navigate without a prepared map. ITRI said the system can reduce warehouse inventory checks from several days to a few hours. The event also includes an AI advisory area involving 15 research organizations and demonstration sites in manufacturing, chemicals, semiconductors and consumer products.
