HKMA Introduces ART Framework for AI Use in Banking
Hong Kong Monetary Authority introduced its ART Framework for responsible AI adoption in banking, according to an official announcement. ART stands for Accountability, Resilience and Trust.
The regulator also issued updated supervisory guidance based on findings from the second cohort of its generative AI sandbox. More than 60 percent of the tested use cases involved agentic AI, including systems that plan and complete multi step tasks within defined controls.
HKMA will create an AI training data sharing platform with Cyberport and the University of Hong Kong, with data quality assurance included in its design. It also plans further agentic AI testing through the GenA.I. Sandbox++ and a discussion paper covering accountability, a registry for material AI agents and intervention mechanisms.
