HistoIndex AI Analysis Confirms Fibrosis Improvement in D&D Pharmatech Phase 2 MASH Trial
HistoIndex and D&D Pharmatech announced positive results from an AI-based quantitative analysis of liver biopsy samples from the Phase 2 clinical trial of zabopegdutide, according to a press release. The investigational treatment targets metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), a progressive liver disease.
HistoIndex used its proprietary qFibrosis tool to evaluate fibrosis changes in 48-week liver biopsies from 27 patients. The analysis showed that 81.8% of patients treated with zabopegdutide achieved at least a one-stage improvement in fibrosis compared to 18.8% in the placebo group. The relative change in qFibrosis continuous score was a 41% reduction for treated patients versus a 9.5% increase for the placebo group.
These AI-based findings align with previous pathologist assessments that demonstrated improvements in fibrosis and MASH resolution after 48 weeks of treatment. The results support the potential of zabopegdutide as an effective therapy for metabolic liver disease and highlight the role of AI in improving precision and reproducibility in clinical fibrosis assessment.
Additional details from HistoIndex’s data will be presented at upcoming scientific conferences.
