Heron Power Picks Morgan Hill for Grid Hardware Factory

Heron Power selected Morgan Hill, California, for its first factory. The company plans to invest more than $100 million, create more than 600 jobs, and produce up to 10,000 Heron Link systems a year starting in late 2027.

Heron Power announced in a press release that it has selected Morgan Hill, California, for its first factory, a 286,000 square foot facility that will produce Heron Link power conversion systems for energy and data center projects. The company said it will invest more than $100 million, create more than 600 jobs, and begin site preparation immediately.

The facility will convert a former distribution warehouse about 30 minutes south of San Jose into a manufacturing site for Heron Link, a 5 megawatt medium voltage power conversion system. Heron expects the factory to make up to 10,000 units per year, equal to more than 40 gigawatts of annual capacity.

Mass production is planned for late 2027. Heron Link combines several pieces of grid equipment into one modular unit, with semiconductors controlled by software, and is designed for renewable energy, battery storage, and data center connections to medium voltage transmission.
