Google to Invest $40 Billion in Texas AI Data Centers

Nov 15, 2025
Google announced a $40 billion investment in Texas to build three new AI data centers in Armstrong and Haskell counties, expanding its presence in the state and supporting workforce training and energy initiatives.

Google is committing $40 billion to construct three new artificial intelligence data centers in Texas, according to Forbes. The facilities will be located in Armstrong and Haskell counties, bringing the company’s total number of data centers in the state to five once completed.

The investment, announced by Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai at an event in Midlothian, will run through 2027. It includes funding for Google Cloud, energy infrastructure, and workforce training programs aimed at electricians and apprentices across Texas. One of the Haskell County sites will be built alongside a new solar and battery energy storage facility.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the project will add five gigawatts of capacity to the state’s power grid and ensure Google remains a net-positive energy user. The company also plans to dedicate funds to energy affordability initiatives and a $30 million Energy Impact Fund to support statewide projects starting in 2026.

The expansion follows Google’s continued investment in its Dallas Cloud region and operational sites such as the Red Oak campus in Ellis County. The initiative is expected to create thousands of jobs and expand Texas’s role as a center for AI and data infrastructure.
