G42 and Vietnamese Consortium Commit $1 Billion to Build National AI Infrastructure
Announced in a press release, Abu Dhabi-based G42 has signed a Framework Cooperation Agreement with Vietnam’s FPT Corporation and Viet Thai Group to build national AI and cloud infrastructure across Vietnam. The partnership, valued at up to $1 billion, aims to establish sovereign AI capabilities and support Vietnam’s digital transformation.
The agreement, signed in Ho Chi Minh City, outlines plans to deploy large-scale cloud capacity across three data center locations to serve public and private sector workloads. It also sets the legal, financial, and regulatory framework for nationwide implementation of AI and cloud infrastructure.
Under the collaboration, FPT will contribute its technical expertise and local market experience, Viet Thai Group will provide strategic and cross-sector support, and G42 will supply advanced AI and cloud technologies. The initiative is designed to maintain Vietnam’s data sovereignty while enabling AI-driven services in government and industry.
Beyond infrastructure, the consortium plans to launch national AI skilling and workforce development programs to promote adoption across sectors. The next phase will involve finalizing workload distribution, regulatory approvals for public cloud adoption, and beginning construction on the data centers.
