GitHub Copilot Reaches 20 Million Users
Microsoft has announced that GitHub Copilot, its AI-powered coding assistant, has reached over 20 million all-time users. This milestone was shared by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella during the company's recent earnings callannounced in a press release.
The tool, which is used by 90% of the Fortune 100 companies, has seen significant growth, with five million new users in the last three months alone. GitHub Copilot's popularity among enterprise customers has increased by 75% compared to the previous quarter.
Despite its impressive growth, GitHub Copilot's user base remains smaller compared to AI chatbots like ChatGPT, which attract hundreds of millions of users monthly. However, the tool's integration into the software engineering niche, where users are willing to pay a premium for AI coding tools, positions it well in the market.
The rise of AI coding tools like GitHub Copilot and its competitors, such as Cursor, highlights the growing demand for AI solutions that enhance developer productivity and streamline coding workflows.
