Geotab Joins Freight Fraud Prevention Hub to Address Cargo Theft

May 26, 2026
Geotab has joined the Freight Fraud Prevention Hub, an initiative by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association, to support industry collaboration on combating rising cargo theft and freight fraud across North America.

Geotab announced in a press release that it has joined the Freight Fraud Prevention Hub, an initiative led by the National Motor Freight Traffic Association. The program aims to strengthen supply chain integrity, promote carrier verification best practices, and raise awareness of freight fraud across the transportation industry.

Geotab's participation follows a surge in cargo theft across North America, which its recent white paper estimates reached record levels in 2024 with a 27 percent year over year increase and losses of up to 35 billion dollars. The report also found that 38 percent of fleet professionals are more concerned about theft than a year ago, while nearly half say theft risks contribute to driver burnout.

The company emphasizes the importance of layered security combining operational best practices with technology such as AI powered dash cameras, real time asset tracking, geofencing, and driver verification tools. These systems can help fleets detect suspicious activity faster, improve recovery efforts, and enhance driver safety.

The Freight Fraud Prevention Hub encourages collaboration among carriers, brokers, shippers, and technology providers to reduce fraud exposure and improve supply chain resilience through education and shared best practices.
