G42 and iGenius have announced a partnership to develop a major AI supercomputer in Italy, as reported by Reuters. The project, named Colosseum, will be developed with a $1 billion investment over five years, utilizing Nvidia technology in southern Italy.

The agreement is part of a broader framework where the United Arab Emirates has pledged to invest $40 billion in Italy. G42 will be the main financier of the initial phase, aiming to create what the companies describe as the "largest AI computer deployment" in Europe. The AI hub is expected to be located in the southeastern Apulia region, according to Italy's Industry Minister Adolfo Urso.

This initiative underscores the strategic collaboration between the UAE and Italy in advancing AI technology, with G42's significant backing from Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund Mubadala and other stakeholders.
