Flox opens $10 million Series A to expand wildlife detection devices
Flox is opening a $10 million Series A to expand its wildlife detection and deterrence system, according to TechCrunch. The company plans to grow from about 150 active devices to several thousand units and extend its technology beyond wildlife applications.
Its battery powered devices use motion sensors, cameras and local AI models to identify animals. They then play sounds suited to each species and vary their responses to reduce the chance that animals become accustomed to the signals.
The devices operate at airports, roads, rail corridors, national parks, farms, mining sites and electrical substations across North America, Europe and Australia. Flox also provides software for monitoring deployments, creating regulatory reports and tracking biodiversity.
The company sells its devices and charges an annual subscription for software and AI after the first year. It also licenses software to equipment manufacturers, including train maker Alstom. Flox expects about $1.5 million in revenue for 2026 and has raised roughly $5 million to date.
