Figma introduced Specs, a Markdown editor that lets teams define design rules for employees and AI agents. It also moved code layers into public beta and added Payload support to Figma Make.

Figma introduced Specs, a Markdown editor for defining company design rules, according to TechCrunch. Teams can use Specs as a standalone file or place it within the Figma canvas.

Specs can reference canvas elements and embed FigJam diagrams, code layers, and designs. Teams can also add design libraries, code libraries, and guidelines, giving employees and AI agents a central source for design requirements.

Figma also moved code layers from private beta to public beta. The feature adds code to canvas designs for interactive prototypes and lets users ask an agent to convert designs into code or modify existing code.

The company added support for more than 20 tools through its Model Context Protocol integration. It also integrated the Payload content management system with Figma Make, allowing users to generate dynamic websites and manage their content directly.
