Fermi America Secures Amarillo Water Deal and Carson County Tax Abatement for 11GW AI Energy Campus

Fermi America has finalized agreements with the City of Amarillo and Carson County to support its planned 11-gigawatt private energy grid campus in the Texas Panhandle, announced in a press release.

The Amarillo City Council approved a 20-year water supply agreement allowing the city to sell up to 2.5 million gallons per day to Fermi America’s campus at twice the rate paid by local taxpayers. The company will fund the necessary infrastructure and has an option to expand the supply to 10 million gallons per day in future project phases.

Carson County officials also approved a 10-year tax abatement and reinvestment zone for the project, designed to encourage local investment and job creation. The agreements mark a key step in Fermi America’s plan to establish its 11GW HyperGrid campus, which aims to integrate multiple energy sources — including nuclear, natural gas, solar, and battery storage — to power large-scale artificial intelligence operations.

The company is developing the site in collaboration with the Texas Tech University System to diversify the regional economy and support technical education initiatives.
