Emerson Expands NI Nigel AI Across Test Automation Platform

May 14, 2026
Emerson has introduced new AI capabilities within its NI test software portfolio, adding prompt-based code generation to the NI LabVIEW+ Suite and extending Nigel AI across its full range of test automation tools.

Emerson Electric announced in a press release the expansion of its NI Nigel AI technology across the NI test software portfolio. The update introduces prompt based code generation in the NI LabVIEW+ Suite and advances the NI platform toward an integrated AI ready test automation system.

The enhancements will become available later in 2026 and are intended to help aerospace, semiconductor, and transportation customers accelerate test development while maintaining control and reliability. Nigel AI, designed specifically for test engineering, will now extend to NI FlexLogger, NI InstrumentStudio, NI TestStand, and NI SystemLink. The technology provides context aware guidance through the full test lifecycle from development to deployment.

According to Emerson, internal testing showed that Nigel AI can reduce test development and troubleshooting from days or hours to minutes. The NI platform combines modular hardware, open software, and a shared data foundation to support complex test automation. It connects different operating environments and computing technologies, allowing teams to incorporate AI into workflows over time.

Emerson presented the updates during the NI Connect conference in Fort Worth, Texas, where companies such as NVIDIA, Alstom, Valeo, Zap Energy, and Cyth Systems described how they use NI technologies to speed up product validation and development.
