
Elea Data Centers Unveils Rio AI City with 3.2 GW Renewable Energy Capacity
Elea Data Centers has announced the launch of Rio AI City, a landmark data center project in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, with a capacity of up to 3.2 GW of renewable energy. In a press release, Elea detailed that the project will initially provide 1.5 GW of energy, with the first phase expected to be operational by 2026.
Located in the Olympic Park region, Rio AI City will be powered entirely by certified renewable energy and will feature waterless cooling systems. The project is part of a broader urban revitalization effort, integrating with the Mata Maravilha project to create a multifunctional urban ecosystem.
The initiative is supported by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall and aims to position the city as a global technology hub. It is expected to generate over 10,000 high-skilled jobs and attract significant investment, reinforcing Rio's role in the digital economy.
