DoorDash Bans Driver for Using AI-Generated Image to Fake Delivery
DoorDash has banned a driver who allegedly used an AI-generated image to fake a food delivery, according to a post on X by customer Byrne Hobart. Hobart, based in Austin, Texas, said the driver marked his order as delivered and uploaded an image that appeared to show food at his doorstep, even though nothing had arrived.
DoorDash investigated the report and permanently removed the driver’s account. The company also refunded Hobart and confirmed that it refunded another customer who reported a similar issue involving the same driver name. A spokesperson said DoorDash uses both automated systems and human review to detect and prevent fraud on its platform.
The incident has drawn attention online as an example of how AI-generated images can be misused in gig work platforms, though DoorDash emphasized it maintains a zero-tolerance policy for fraudulent activity.
