DOGE Develops AI Tool to Reduce Federal Regulations

DOGE has developed an AI tool intended to significantly reduce federal regulations, according to The Washington Post. The tool, named the DOGE AI Deregulation Decision Tool, is designed to analyze approximately 200,000 federal regulations to identify those that are no longer legally required. The goal is to eliminate half of these regulations by the first anniversary of President Donald Trump's return to office.
The AI tool has already been employed to review regulations at the Department of Housing and Urban Development and has been used to draft deregulations at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Despite these advancements, a White House spokesperson noted that no single plan has been approved or greenlit, emphasizing that the work is still in its early stages.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to embed AI across government operations, aiming to enhance efficiency and reduce compliance costs. However, the use of AI in this context has raised concerns about potential errors and the legality of such deregulation efforts.
