Deloitte survey finds predictive maintenance leads infrastructure AI use

A Deloitte survey of 985 infrastructure leaders finds predictive maintenance is the leading current AI use case, while energy forecasting and supply chain uses are expected to grow.

Deloitte said in a press release that 61% of infrastructure leaders surveyed identify predictive maintenance as the leading current use of AI. Over the next three years, 44% expect to expand AI use for energy demand forecasting and 40% expect to use it more in supply chain logistics.

The survey found that 34% of respondents view shortages of technology workers, particularly in AI and cybersecurity, as a major barrier. AI use for automating infrastructure tasks is a priority for 36% of organizations, a share expected to reach 42% within three years.

Deloitte surveyed 985 leaders from government, private sector and nonprofit organizations across 21 countries. Respondents represented digital networks, utilities, transportation, and social and entertainment infrastructure.
